Volunteer Roles
We have a variety of roles available across different areas of the festival, from front-of-house positions to behind-the-scenes support.
Event Support
Help create a welcoming atmosphere and ensure smooth operations at our venues.
- Guest Services: Welcome attendees, provide information, and help create a positive first impression
- Registration Desk: Check in guests, distribute passes, and manage ticketing
- Venue Assistants: Help manage queues, direct foot traffic, and ensure smooth operations at screening venues
Comic-Con Support
Be at the heart of our bustling Comic-Con experience in the Portmagee Domes.
- Activity Coordinators: Assist with children’s activities, LEGO corner, and face painting stations
- Vendor Support: Help vendors with setup/breakdown and provide general assistance
- Costume Support: Assist with cosplay competitions and character appearances
Technical Support
Support the technical and creative aspects of the festival.
- Screening Assistants: Help with film screening setup and venue preparation
- Photography/Videography: Capture festival moments for our archives (experience preferred)
- Social Media Support: Help document and share the festival in real-time
Hospitality
Ensure our special guests and attendees have everything they need.
- VIP Support: Assist with filmmaker and special guest hospitality
- Green Room Support: Help maintain refreshment areas and support spaces
- Transport Assistants: Help coordinate shuttles and provide directions
What’s Involved
We understand everyone has different availability, so we offer various commitment levels:
Full Festival (3 days) Ideal for those who want the complete experience. Full festival volunteers receive maximum perks and really become part of the festival family.
Weekend Days (Saturday/Sunday) Perfect for those available for the busiest Comic-Con days when we need the most support.
Single Day Great for anyone who wants to help but has limited availability. Every contribution makes a difference!
Shifts typically run:
- Morning: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Afternoon: 1:30 PM – 6:30 PM
- Evening: 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Requirements
- Age: Must be 16 or over (under 18s require parental consent)
- Availability: Able to commit to your agreed shifts
- Attitude: Enthusiastic, reliable, and friendly
- Communication: Good English communication skills
- Team Player: Ability to work well with others
No previous experience necessary! We provide full briefing and support for all roles.
